I think this image of me and my friends drinks at dinner is my best picture that I took for the assignment because it uses the rule of odds to create a good composition picture. I also feel like the lighting in this picture, although you cannot tell where the light source is coming from, is very good and brings out the colors in the drinks. The most challenging thing about this assignment was probably finding photographers that took different pictures like ethically evaluative, or theoretical photographs. In the future to create strong images, I will keep these six categories in mind and ask myself, what is this picture trying to show or prove?

Multimodel Presentation

In this presentation I talk about a photographer and filmmaker named Lauren Greenfield who focuses her work on women in society from young girls to women. She uses theoretical and ethically evaluative photography to bring awareness to unrealistic beauty standards, and how society creates image-obsessed girls. She uses different techniques like side lighting, front lighting, rule of odds, etc to showcase everyday women experiences in society. Even though the photos are from 1990's and on, they still have a big effect on the world today, and what women will do to "look pretty" in the public eye. I loved how Lauren brought attention to these problems in society because as the pictures show, these procedures and actions (like tanning in a tanning booth) start young and end up hurting young girls in the long run. Girls are more worried about appearance then there own mental-health.  Her work showed me that these compositional choices aren’t just aesthetic pictures taken for fun, they are very intentional pictures that help emphasize the emotional and mental impact of societal pressure on females.

I loved how you explained why the picture is important and how you went into full detail of the composition of the pictures and what was happening in the pictures. I think you did a good job in showing how the photographs can be included in a bunch of different categories like interpretive, explanatory, natural lighting, etc. I love how both photos use black and white colors to create a harsher mood which goes along with the difficult conditions of the 1930's people had live through.
